Self care, regeneration and Recovery
In this time of crisis are you feeling anxious, scared, worried, angry, overwhelmed or sad? In caring for ourselves the first step is to be honest with what we are experiencing in the moment. These are all normal feelings. Own it. Taking responsibility for our feelings rather than blaming others for what we feel, we begin to come out of being the victim. This empowers us to regenerate and recover from past buried emotions and trauma that can be held in our bodies.
Managing Stress
In these uncertain and ever changing times, stress may be weighing heavily on some. With the restrictions of COVID-19, managing the emotions that are happening in and around us, can cause us to be in our survival mode. We may feel threatened, withdrawn, or even attack and blame others for what we are feeling. We are not being attacked by lions, tiger, and bears (oh my), we are experiencing the impact of our thoughts and emotions. This is our stress response being activated. We do have the power to shift our physiology, we just have to learn how to do this. I was never taught this in school, were you?
It is a proven fact that 5 minutes of anger decreases the effectiveness of your immune system for up to 6 hours! There are over 1400 biochemical reactions happening in your body at that time that can drain your inner battery. Because these infinite biological actions aren’t regulated by your conscious mind, it makes sense they are from your subconscious mind that is running all of it. The multitude of health related functions blood pressure, blood sugar, hormones and immune system all are being influenced by the autonomic nervous system. This means it is automatic!
We can build our capacity to have the power over this!
