What next steps can I take to heal?
Here in America we have just experienced an election that was wrought with confusion, anxiety, anger, worry, doubt etc. And yet, more Americans than ever came out to vote, to be heard. Truly evidence of our democracy, one you and I have taken for granted perhaps. No longer can we.
Now our job, each of us, is to heal the divide.
First healing the divide within ourselves, since in the quantum world, we see what is happening inside us being projected onto the “field”. Lynn McTaggert wrote a book many years ago called “The Field” if you want to explore that.
We all have many parts within us. The part of us that gets happy, the part of us that gets sad, the part of us that gets worried, etc. This is normal. Using the systems of HeartMath and Internal Family systems, I have found these systems very effective with clients and my own inner turmoil.
We also must be aware of the collective trauma. This planet and the people who inhabit it, are wounded. Deeply wounded for generations. I like what one of my teachers said, when observing the planet from a distance, looking at this beautiful blue pearl, it has many bandages on it. All the wars, genocides, borders etc that man/woman has created have hurt the energetics of its people. None of us are excluded! The work of Thomas Hubl is addressing this, as well as IFS and HeartMath.
A client came to see me the other day. He sat in the chair all slumped over, dark circles under his eyes. His energy was heavy and yet intense.
I asked how can I support you today? He had lost his job many weeks ago, sad/depressed about his life, angry about the election. He alluded that I could make it better, that I had some secret power. (actually we all do) I shared with him about the collective field we are in, anxiety, worry, doubt, anger and dealing with Covid-19. We are all experiencing many emotions and they are impacting our bodies.
I told him about my own bout last week, how I had lost center, and was miserable having myself a pity party! It truly was one of my better ones..lol. He looked stunned. He even said I am coming to you for help and you have these? Yes, I too am human. I have learned much self mastery, yet there are times when I fail to use the skills I have. Knowing his religion I asked him to think of the stories in his sacred books of how each had suffered.
He began to settle. He asked if he could get on the table, I am a bodyworker. (human body that is). As I checked into his energy field, his lower centers were closed,(I am actually finding this pattern common right now with many people) as well as his heart. Which is why I believe his lower and upper back were hurting.
I explained the emotions he was having or choosing were in fact keeping him in survival physiology. Dumping stress hormones consistently into his body, creating chaos in the nervous system. When this happens you truly can’t think outside of the looping patterns the brain does under the influence of these hormones.
As I worked with him, invited him into his breath and heart, his system began to settle. Then using Internal Family Systems approach worked with the parts of him in emotional chaos/distress. He began to relax, soften and release. Helped him to engage his heart.
At end of session, he said he felt so calm and centered. Wondered how to stay that way. He smiled and said as he walked out of the door, I actually have much to be grateful for, a beautiful wife, children and a safe place to live.
Isn’t this the challenge we are all facing? How do I stay centered? How do I open my heart to what I don’t like? How do I move forward not knowing outcomes?
If in any way, I can support you, let me know.
